Those Miraculous Statues of Gov. Okorocha

Great news for citizens of IMO State: When you are hungry, you can now go to the Hero’s Square and stare at one of the great statues that your former governor erected with you money - your hunger will be gone! If you feel sick, these statues have miraculous powers to heal your sicknesses. Just go and stare at the statues, your sickness will be gone! If you are unable to pay school fees for your children, no problem. Head to the Hero’s Square and admire the statues. Your child’s school will not bother you with the school fees and tuition! Oh, and finally, these statues have supernatural powers. You don’t need the wahala of the high cost of transportation. These statues can transport you to wherever you want to travel to. Nigerians are conquered people! Until we begin to demand accountability from our local government, state and federal elected representatives, nothing will ever change.

More States or More Looting Opportunities?

The House of Representatives is considering the creation of Ogoja State. ProbeNaija is asking: Do we have a problem of less number of states in Nigeria? Or do we have the problem of non-accountable state governments? How can the creation of this state benefit an ordinary citizen? Or isn’t the creation of this state benefit the few members of the political elites, while at the same time utilizing the little resources to feed and care for those few political elitist club members? ProbeNaija believes that this is just an expansion of cost of governance that is does not contribute anything to the security, life and wellbeing of the citizens of Ogoja and its environs.

Personal donation or what?

So the First Lady makes a donation of N1 billion Naira to beautify OAU, Ile-Ife. In return the Oba named a 2.7km road after the First Lady. So, meaningful Nigerians are asking and thinking: 1. Is this a personal donation or is the N1 bn from the government account? 2. Our constitution does not recognize the Office of the First Lady. In whose capacity therefore, is the N1bn being spent? 3. Sounds more like the N1 bn was used to “purchase” the naming of the 2.7km road after the First Lady. 4. In a real democracy this gift will be going through series of congressional hearings clearing the donor from corrupt kickback practices. 5. Sounds like Nigerian democracy is now completely a family enterprise. 6. Meanwhile those we elect to represent us are all Missing In Action (MIA). 7. Is this the kind of democracy we are bequeathing to our children? Anti-people policies and actions of this government is beyond characterization.

Our Political Leaders on Hard Drugs

According to NaijaNews on October 16, 2024, a Nigerian Senator, Kawu Sumaila (Kano South), on the floor of the Senate, boldly alleged: “As I am speaking now, most of our officers in our constituencies, most of our political officers, most of our houses, when you go there you will find out that there is a mountain of drugs. There are drug dealers in our offices and our houses.” Senator Kawu Sumaila, even promised: “I can take you to some of the political leaders who are in so many ways contributing to drug abuse in Nigeria.” ProbeNaija, together with many right thinking Nigerians applaud Senator Kawu, for speaking with honor when he suggested: “We need to create a situation where before conducting elections or before taking appointments, you must go for a drug test.” Most Nigerians, (except most of our politicians) will agree with this Distinguished Senator. Now we understand one more reason, every policy that comes from this not-so National Assembly is anti-people.
